If only it were Jealousy

Isn't this just a children's song? Just saying, this isn't really unique cause I recognize this song, I just can't place what song it is. There's no shift scale, which would have made it kind of cool, instead it just repeats the same scale again. Also, it's a total of 14 seconds long. I mean, I've heard worse solos that should have only been 14 seconds long, but this one needs to be longer. Overall, I don't think you even tried. Sorry man, but I gotta.

But, dude.. you don't know how much time and effort i put into this.
Open your ears man. All you hear is a simple melody that i didn't even make up myself, but try to listen a bit better.
Let the loop play for about 10 times and just let the notes pierce into your mind.
Close your eyes. Focus on the song and let go of your negative thoughts.
This song will put you into trance. This song, will let you travel anywhere you'd like. All you have to do is open yours ears and clear your mind.

You see, to achieve this effect i had to study the human brain for years and years. I have taken several psychology courses and talked to psychiatrist and professors.
All that i have learned is in this song. It is designed to change your inner self.

[Unlikely Mastermind]

Sounds

Where did you get your sounds, and what do you use. I'd love to get those orchestra sounds, they sound amazing. Please tell me :D. However, other then that, I like the song. The orchestration is good in terms of melody and repitition of said melody. Also the second part is awesome sounding. The only problem I have with the modern drum beat is that it just doesn't seem to fit. Make the first drum beat, "bum-ta" more complex, perferably with cymbals, since the hat seems to be the thing that made it fit the best. I personally don't like the hat tamberine in this song, but that's up to you, I'd have rather heard a hi-hat. Also, make it longer, this song is absolutely amazing, and I'd like to hear more of it. Seriously, I love this song man. Now don't forget to tell me where you got those orchestra sounds so I can use them :D. Good song man 5/5 9/10 (-1 for being to short :P)

Hey! Thanks so much for the review -very encouraging...I'm an amatuer, and have no idea what I'm doing -seriously, I can't even read music..I do what I do by ear, and just make what 'sounds good' to me. I'll definitely keep in mind your suggestions, and I'd love to try implenting them, and making a longer, better version of this as soon as I get some time and inspiration.
The exact instruments I use are from East West Instruments (soundsonline.com I think), specifically East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold, and Stormdrum (don't think I used that one in this piece though). And I edit the sounds into music in FL Studio 9. But...East West Instruments are freaking expensive...you might look into 'Garriton Personal Orchestra', which is cheaper I think, and of comparable quality.

Cool

I like the song, I felt like the Jazz Organ solo was a little out of place, and personally I'm not a fan of the synths you use, they sound too fake and clean for me. However, that's just my style versus your style. I like the song structure and I like the song in general. You should use some more sound separation also, if possible with the program you are using. Over all I liked it though, cool song. Good luck my competitor in the open light competition :D

I must say, though, that I used only two drum kits, a bass, two guitars, and an organ for this piece -- no synths! Unless you you mean that they are literally being synthesized (AKA virtual instruments), which in this case you would be correct.

Sorry; my musical knowledge is usually pretty limited >_<

Chilaxing

It had a cool idea, I feel like some more echo on the piano would have helped, or atleast stop it from cutting off as much as it does. I really like the main melody, just wish there was some variation in it. Finally I found that the lack of bass took away from the intensity later on in the piece, at about 1:17 the higher pitch synth comes in, and I wish a bass line appeared either there or earlier, I feel like that would help the overall feeling of the song and prevent it from feeling so repetitive. Overall though, a good song :)

Haha, thanks. Usually I do that kind of stuff, but I didn't really focus on that since I was too worried I wouldn't be able to make a song that was under 2 minutes.

Chill

I like it, it's very sharp, which is how I imagine ice, yet it had the slow dragging feeling of trodding through snow. I like it, very good imagery created with sounds. The melody at the beginning was very subtle, I like that. It was hidden behind distrotion and other sounds. It made it more interesting when it started getting louder and it popped out on the high note. Good work Open Light ^_^

I love relaxing ambient songs like this. The song really just hit so well together. Plus I love FL Studios because it's what I use, haha. ^_^"

[Entering a Nightmare [WIP]]

Scales :D

I love it, to be honest, but the scales you use seem to be confusing, like you can't pick a key, I think you should have focused more on being in minor. The nightmare should sound darker and what you have so far is good, but it switchs to an odd key that doesn't really fit with the beginning

Haha yeah this is an old WIP I made and felt better about before I uploaded it. If it was ever finished, there would be a better transition between scales. This was more like just me vomiting up stuff and calling it a song, hahaha. Thanks though!

I love this song haha, and your version is sweet, once it's finished, I'm downloading it fo' shizzle. The only thing I didn't really like was the sound of the wind chime thingies, it needs an echo effect imho. Though still awesome :D
