Thanks for the review!
deadmau5
The intro reminded me of an effect I first used by deadmau5, which was, when the kick hit, the rest of the music, went quiet then louder when the kick was gone. I love that effect for some reason. Overall I love the song. It sounds great. The minor scale part behind the main was strange but awesome. The solo was cool, it gave me goosebumps which is very rare for me anymore. Then the chip solo gave me them again. Love it. Then the part where it was fading and coming back in a bunch was awesome. I just loved the track. love love love love love love blah blah blah love love. So there we go, I think it's out of my system. Anyway, good shit OL.
Hahaha woo thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
EDIT: Oh by the way, in case you see this, you can do this on FL studios by messing with the mixer's peak control and linking certain channels to a controller. It's kinda complicated to type out but you can check out videos of sidechaining if you want to find out how to do it.
Pretty cool
I personally don't think it's your best, but there's a lot of good effects, and the solo was amazing as usual. Still really good stuff. The outro was really good too.
Hmmmmm...
Very cool, though I agree that the beat pattern needs to be more complex, something more on the Amen Break or something intense like that. Also, I wish the synth was less slurry. It's hard to make out the notes that are going by so fast. It's like a meshing of lots of notes. I want to hear the notes though. Later on, the synth sounds awesome, though then the crash becomes a little over powering, back that off a bit and I think this song will be perfect. Good stuff OpenLight.
Constructive Criticism
Pretty Good
Also, the part where the kind of string sounding thing came in, I found that the timbre of that instrument to be unfitting to the rest of the song. Personally, I think sticking to the more technological sounds would fit better.
Funky
It reminds me of Daft Punk, a lot, which is a really good thing. It sounds great. The only thing I noticed was the bubbly sound in the background, seem to go to long. Maybe cut it down to maybe just a measure or two.
Pretty good
This is more trance though, however that's why I'm going to recommend this, make the lead part stand out more, it sounds to me like the brass or something from a 3x OSC, just a guess. It would sound better with a more square, sawtooth, or sinetooth sound, just something harsh in my opinion. Also, make it not fade in, as in make it attack faster. So that's what I think. I like it though. It's got some really good sounds, as in all the other sounds are pretty cool. It's really just that one. So keep it up, and PM me when the full version is out, if you'd be so kind.
alright, ill send it to you whenever i get it done, thanks! i still havent gotten a complete grasp on what makes a song 'good' the help.. well helps :D
PAINKILLER!
Lol, it's like a parody and an awesome song in one haha, great :D
???
I can't even tell what's going on at the beginning and it just sounds bad. Also, the vocalist needs to practice his lung capacity, he seems to breathe a lot and really heavily. The mastering needs some work, overall. The crash cymbal overpowered the rest of the song completely. So there's my opinion. I liked the music at 2:00ish. The screaming sort of took away from it, in my opinion.
Well I thank you for your review. Thanks for listening as well. He's a smoker, so what do you want. I personally like the sound of breathing, and the feel for it. It brings you closer to the musician and his obvious flaws. And yeah, I agree with you on the crash and mix comments. I wanted to work on it longer, but my friends wanted to get it released asap. We had a hard time recording drums, because I didn't have a mixer and we could only use one mic.
Once again, thanks for the review, bud. [:
Note Choices
The scale seems to clash upon itself. It seems like it can't make up it's mind at all. So you might want work on that. That's my opinion of course. It's not bad I like the sounds you use personally. However, still good, keep it up :D
Thanks for the review! I sorta felt the same about the notes but the instrument I used in the program was different from what I normally use. It's like a synth loop and changes with the more notes you add on top of it. I think I'm gettin the hang of it though :P
